Tips to better handle conflict and find resolutions in your personal and business life.

Resolving Conflict Starts with You.

  1. Learn how you respond to conflict.

  2. Physical(upset stomach, shaky), Emotional(anger, hurt, scared), and Behavioral (raised voices, finger pointing) signals- look for your cues then take a step back.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What am trying to get from this conversation?

  2. What do I want the other person/persons to get from this conversation?

  3. What kind of relationship do I want to have with this person/persons?

  4. How am I showing up? Is my behavior matching the result I am looking for?

These questions help you manage your reaction, help your brain to keep thinking, and keeps you focused on the goal of what you are trying to accomplish.

Is it a safe space? When you set the conversation up in a safe space everyone feels comfortable in expressing their thoughts. This helps the conversation move forward.

Make sure to keep evaluating. If the conversation begins to veer off track, redirect to the facts and what you are trying to accomplish.

Reminder: You don’t have to apologize if it is not warranted. Be open and curious to listening to others. Take in the feedback as a learning experience.

We are human, we make mistakes, and learning to work through conflict takes practice. The more you practice, the easier it will be to step into the conversation.
